Then took it to the tail of the dragon and drove it home 1000 miles on the second day of having a manual.
I really like this car.

Congrats! Very nice car. I’d guess this means the Crossfire will be finding a new home?

Yea. It’d be cool to keep it as a winter beater, but it’d be even cooler to have a couple grand back in my pocket.

Sell the crossfire and use some of the money to buy a clapped out C4 Corvette and winter drive that.

Yea and a 124 Abarth was nice, but too much money. Not enough out there or used yet. And well, the Club Miata is just nice.

Dont need 2 red 2 seaters, esp. in the state with the highest car insurance. Sadly its time to go has come.

I lost my hipster cred. But I gained a warranty, reliability, 10mpg, a top that goes up/down, a nice interior ...

Welcome to the club. It’s not the perfect car for every occasion, but I’ve never been happier behind the wheel than when I’m driving my Miata on a twisty road.

The SC and Crossfire were fine/fun in the snow. Hoping the lighter Miata can handle it too.

My first proper trip in my Miata was on the back roads of West Virginia. By the time I made it over the first mountain pass I was in love. I went about 600 miles that day from Eastern NC to Western PA, and when I got to my hotel I wanted to keep going.

Do it. It feels like a toy to me because its so small and light, but I wonder how it would feel to an NB owner.

I sat in one of those new Miatas It looks very fun to drive but didn’t like where they put the cup holders behind the seats almost.

I’ve only had one in place by the passenger seat, that I move when someone is with me. The main spot for both cupholders is pretty dumb, but I imagine I’ll only have them in there on long road trips.

I totally recommend an aftermarket muffler if you want a bit more noise to go with your enthusiastic driving! Good-Win-Racing is a great source of Miata parts of both stock and aftermarket. http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Performance-Parts/MX5ND/Exhaust.html?id=HQERy8dF
I run a Roadster Sport on mine since I have the option of bolting in a baffle if I want to lower my exhaust note for long drives and whatnot.

I do want more noise, it kind of needs it. I had actually looked up a muffler delete and a ECUtek tune for burbles on the over-run. But now that I have a crazy long warranty, I don’t want to fuck that up. And that one you linked sounds good.
$400 isn’t cheap but a lifetime warranty, damn. That might actually be the next thing I buy after winter wheels/tires.

I picked mine up used with a matching RoadsterSport mid-pipe for the price of a new RS3 muffler. There is a bad drone between 2.5k thru 3.1k RPM but only when I have a top up so I bought the packed baffle insert...which I lost earlier this year along with the bolt that holds it in place. From what I read, it only drones bad if the muffler and mid-pipe are combined...this is on a NB Miata by the way so your results may be different.
Make sure to list to some YouTube videos of ND MX-5 aftermarket exhaust recordings to make sure which one sounds best for you!

Oh, also, please consider removing that silly black plastic tab on the rear wheel arches. That’s only there because automakers can’t sell cars with tires that stick out past the bodywork. That tab is the legal way around it and it’s an eyesore. Keep it around for when it’s time for vehicle inspections (if your area has them).
Milky

10/05/2017 at 10:32 | 0 |
Yea my car for sure has that, plus damn, I need wheels that stick out more at some point.
I’m not trying to cut anything up for at least a little while though! I’d feel bad doing that to something I spent actual money on. Definitely going to youtube the shit out of exhaust videos before I buy though. I’ve done that for my last two cars too.
(Also no inspections for Michigan)
